What is a heatwave?

A heatwave is a prolonged period of abnormally hot weather, which may be accompanied by high humidity, often occurring during the summer months. Heatwaves are characterised by high temperatures that persist for several days, sometimes even weeks.

How to keep cool in a heatwave

There are many techniques to help to stay cool during a heatwave, many of which are totally free. From considering what you wear and what you do, through to how you can cool your home, lots of small changes can make a large difference to your comfort during hot weather.
